Rivers Angels Successfully Raid Ghanaian National Team, Sign Three Excellent Black Queens For 20/21 Season

The  River Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt continues to be the club to be for  female footballers in and out of Nigeria.

Since its initial inception as Larry's Angels in 1986 it has remained the powerhouse of women's football in Nigeria developing more players for the Super Falcons and major clubs across Europe, the US and Asia than any other team arguably even in Africa.

Francisca Ordega , Stella Mbachu, Ngozi Ebere , and Asisat Oshoala are all among the greats who once wore the blue and white of Port Harcourt. There are many more.

One of the reasons for its continued success is that the club never rests on its oars but is always on the hunt for new talent and will go both near and far  to unearth them.

They have continued to do so for the 20/21 term and have successfully completed the signing of three Ghanaian players ahead of the start of the new season.

Goal keeper Patricia Mantey (Ghana Immigration Services) (above), mid-fielder Mary Essiful (Soccer Intellectuals FC) ( below in red) and Gifty Acheampong  also a mid fielder (Thunder Queens FC) will now join the club.

Gifty Acheampong  (below) after completing her move to the side said, “I’ve been hearing so much about this team and have seen how consistent they’ve been every season

“Their winning mentality is one of the reasons I decided to join them because I equally love winning.

“I’ve equally seen most of their players get bigger deals in the European scene, which is the prayer of most players playing in the domestic league, and I’m certain my stay here will give me more opportunities.

“I also intend to win a title or even more while I’m here with them.”

The three Ghanaian players areof exceptional quality and have all played for the Black Queens, Ghana's national team and Super Falcons' regional rivals extensively so they know about the pace of Nigerian football. They are expected to join the team this week to begin preparations ahead of the new season.
