Uganda Deploys Aircraft As Massive Manhunt For More Than 200 Escaped Convicts Continues
The Uganda military is using aircraft and foot patrols to search for more than 200 inmates who escaped from a prison in north-east Uganda.
The Area Army spokesman, Peter Mugisha, said this in Kampala yesterday.
He said that 219 inmates escaped from the prison near the remote town of Moroto, about 500 kilometres from the capital Kampala, on Wednesday.
As they escaped they also broke into the armoury and armed themselves prompting an exchange of fire during which a soldier and three escapees died.
So far seven have been rearrested Mugisha confirmed.
The massive manhunt continues today as citizens have been warned to be on the lookout for any strangers in their communities.
