Suddenly It's Raining Nigerians In Stoke As Potters Sign Three More To Join Mikel
City have signed their fourth Nigerian
during this transfer window and are giddy over the accomplishment.
According to a statement on the club's website, Ifeanyi Udanoh will now hopefully play in the central defence when ready. Right now he will start for the U18's and alongside him will be multipurpose defender David Okagbue. while midfielder Gabriel Adebambo, who are all products of the Irish football league, will play for the U23 team.
The other Nigerian arrival Mikel Obi, as we know is already marshalling the midfield for the A-team.
Often referred to as the new Virgil van Dijk, the Potter's acquisition is quite a surprise as Tottenham Hotspur had been wooing Udanoh after Coach Mourinho scouted him and gave the burly defender the thumbs up. They were clearly thought to have the advantage.
On Udanoh, Stoke City wrote :
"Centre back from London/Nigeria. Came to the club on a trial in January before he, unfortunately, sustained an injury just after.
"Still getting back to full fitness following lockdown but an aggressive centre back who likes physical challenges."
The Potters also confirmed that Udanoh will be rested for their first three games in the U18 Premier League in the 2020-2021 campaign.
To him, and the other Naija's we say congratulations and wish them all the best.
