Nigerian Air Force To Start Air Dropping Food And Relief Supplies To Isolated Communities In The North-East
The FG yesterday announced that it intends to deliver aid by air to civilians in remote communities northeast of the country that are not accessible by road due to terror attacks or difficult terrain.
Sadiya Farouq the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs said the Nigeria Air Force will air drop food and other relief items to several pre-determined spots.
"There have been issues of inaccessible areas where humanitarian workers cannot reach the people."
Farouq said the government would take statistics of the hard-to-reach communities and civilian population to ensure proper airdrops of the relief.
About 3 million people have been displaced in over a decade of Boko Haram terror activities in the region and scores of civilians are still trapped in some remote communities as they unable to flee due to insecurity on the roads.
