If what we are hearing comes to pass, Nigerian soccer fans as well as the Super Eagles coaching staff will be quite thrilled.
In a recent interview with Brila FM former Super Eagle forward, Odion Ighalo has revealed that he is open to a return to international football and again dress for the three-time African Champions.
The Manchester United forward also confirmed that he has been in close contact with coach Gernot Rohr and the NFF President Amaju Pinnick.
“I am still in contact with Gernot Rohr and Amaju Pinnick as both just called and congratulated me on my loan deal.
“I am still thinking about returning to the national team, but right now I want to concentrate on my club career.
“I left the national team because of the distance between Nigeria and China, but now that I am in Manchester you never can tell.”
Awareness Sports recently revealed that it took the star almost 2 days to travel from China back to Nigeria.
Ighalo announced his retirement from international football after the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt after 35 appearances for Nigeria in which he scored 16 goals.
Since then many soccer fans and experts as well as ex-Eagles such as Nwankwo Kanu, Henry Nwosu, and Amokachi have been harping for his return.
Well, they may soon get their wish.
