Afelokhai Dispels Match Fixing Allegation Against Heartland But Implicates Al Hilal
Enyimba Goal Keeper Theophilus Afelokhai is an absolutely brilliant shot-stopper and many believe he should be among the trio of goalkeepers protecting the Super Eagles' net.
Recently he has had a lot to say.
Afelokhai has responded to an alleged match-fixing allegation against Heartland FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, claiming it is not true and based without fact.
The 30-year-old fumed:
“I can’t receive money from the opponent and stand in my goal post to betray my team, God forbid, I cannot do such a thing. If any player is involved in such a thing, follow their career and see how they will end

“As I said earlier, I have carefully planned my life, what I will eat tomorrow is not my problem, and I don’t struggle for anything in life. Heartland does not have money to give me to sell a football match, no club can pay me to betray my teammates, if I do that, I am selling my life"
But then he dropped another bomb by revealing that Sudanese club, Al Hilal offered him millions of Naira to betray Enyimba in the CAF Champions League.
The Peoples' Elephant were held to a goalless draw in Aba during the first leg and needed to avoid defeat in Omdurman to progress to the group stages.
The Blue Waves allegedly approached Afelokhai and asked him to feign a sickness on the morning of the crucial encounter which he rejected.
As we know the Sudanese were able to squeak by the Nigerian Champion after a tough 1-0 victory.
Ironically though he played the first leg of the match against Al Hilal in Aba he was not selected by Coach Usman Abdallah in the return fixture in Sudan as Enyimba fielded Olufemi Kayode in goal.
Afelokhai joined Enyimba from the Kano Pillars in 2015.
