According to Leader of the House, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu (above), who presented the executive bill entitled “A bill for a law to repeal the Imo State governors and Speakers Pension and privileges law No 5 of 2007 (as amended)” Imo State pays out a whopping N1.3bn annually to ex-governors, their deputies and ex- speakers as pensions and other entitlements.
Also according to him, this humongous sum is enough to pay the salaries of workers in the State.
Uche Ogbuagu who represents Ikeduru state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly praised Governor Uzodinma for passing the bill because the Governor always wants the best for the state and since his moral compass is intact, he will approve any cost-cutting measure even though he stands to be a beneficiary of it in the future.
