As mind-boggling as it may sound the FG is considering discharging COVID-19 positive patients from isolation and treatment centres once they show signs of improvement.
Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known at the daily Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing yesterday.
He said there was enough proof that recovery from the virus could continue at home if the proper regime and treatment was being maintained.
"I am sharing this so that we start preparing ourselves for some changes and the directions of how we are planning to go,"
A fact to the matter is that the government's decision may be linked to the reality that treatment centres across the country have become totally overwhelmed with the numbers of infected.
It is no longer a secret that the NCDC is running out of beds and space and Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu himself has admitted this hence the now possible introduction of home-care treatment for COVID-19 patients.
