Liverpool Legend John Barnes Says Ighalo Is Not Worth Shanghai Shenhua's Asking Price Of €23m

As we know the future of Ighalo as a Red Devil has become more complicated with his loan running out in two weeks, Marcus Rashford nearing a return to full fitness and the Chinese refusing to budge from their €23m asking price despite Transfermarkt listing him at a quarter the value at €5.20m.
Barnes believes that normally the Nigerian would be worth around £20m which is only £563,675.32 less than the Chinese tendered bill. However, the former England star is also of the opinion that the value of the former Super Eagle has plummeted, like with other players, because the coronavirus shut-down has left a financial hole in almost every clubs' balance sheets,
Barnes was quoted by tribuna.com as saying :
"Under normal circumstances, £20 million is nothing for a player in the transfer market, however, if you are looking at the current situation with coronavirus and the transfer market, with a player who won't necessarily start every game, he is not worth the money."
Ighalo has around eighteen months left on his contract with Shanghai Shenhua who want the 2019 AFCON top scorer to return to China upon the expiration of his loan with United.
As we pointed out earlier with a mere 14 days left on his contract United's window of opportunity to sign the Nigerian keeps getting smaller by the day.
